Centenary Cup 2026

ROWNER WIN CENTENARY CUP 2026!!!

The P&D were originated in 1925, and in 2025 the Centenary Cup was created in celebration, with Milton Park winning the trophy for its inauguration.

This years competition though saw all the clubs within the P&D battle it out for the trophy again, the competition consists of a team of 8 players split into 2 rinks of 4's where one rink plays at home and one rink plays away, allowing no home advantage in any of the rounds.

Rowner had successfully traversed the earlier rounds with a number of players representing the club. This resulted in the team having to play the semi-finals and potentially the final on the same day at Fareham BC on 1st August.

The players picked to represent the club were as follows:

 Rink 1                                  Rink 2

 David Knight                      Craig Payne

 Keith Gerrard                     Malcolm Butler

 Phil Pinder                         Josh Berry

Graeme Coles                     Barry Stafford

In the Semi Final, we had to face off against a team from Priory, and the first end looked like it may be a bit of a struggle as Graeme dropped a 5, and Barry dropped 3 shots, however the teams regained their composure and the Fareham green was mastered by the Rowner team much better than the Priory team, final scores of the Semi Final had Graeme winning 27-12, and Barry winning 17-14.

This meant that the teams had to have an hours rest, where some enjoyed the Bacon Rolls that were on offer from the Fareham Kitchen.

The final was to be contested with a team of players from Vospers, who Rowner have had mixed results against this season, and as such the final started off again a bit cagey and both rinks were taking the time to find the line and weight.

Eventually though, the Rowner men started to find their weight slightly better than the team from Vospers and the final results were in.

Graeme Coles winning his rink by 19 shots to 12 and Barry Stafford winning 16-10, meaning that Rowner were the 2026 champions.

Club Captain Bryan Webb said "What a day, thanks to all the players. You all played so well, and also, thanks to all the players in the previous rounds who helped get us here today. I am over the moon!"
