800 Years of Sandwich's Mayoralty: A Celebratory Talk
Sandwich History Society
The mayoralty of Sandwich, one of the first in England, dating from the early 13th century, has seen it all: intrigue, bribery, bravery, royal visits, and the town’s rise as one of the original Cinque Ports. Join us on 2nd June at the Guildhall (Delf Room) for a fascinating talk by town guide and Sandwich History Committee Member Terry Palmer, who will be sharing remarkable stories from eight centuries of mayors. This is part of the 800th anniversary celebrations of the mayoralty.
The lecture is free but a suggested donation of £5 by attendees with any profit going to the Mayor’s Fund. (Please bring cash.)
Hosted by Sandwich History Society, The Arts Society Sandwich, and The Arts Society Dover Deal & Sandwich.
