This website follows the progress of our Hall and the build of its new extension
Shaw-cum-Donnington Village Hall has been at the heart of the local community since 1912, when it was sold to local landowners for the benefit of the community. Registered as a charity in May 1965 (no.300200) it still serves its local community today as a vital community hub.
For generations the Hall has been used daily by the local Primary School for school dinners and activities, as well as long term regular hirers of the Parish Council, WI and Guides.
Current regular hirers include the local Pre-School who use the Hall daily, as well as a range of groups and organisations offering dance and exercise / keep fit classes for the community.
The Hall provides a venue for hire for family celebrations and community events. As a not-for-profit organisation, the Hall maintains hire rates as low as possible, enabling local families to access this facility and its activities.
But, with our parish expanding by over 60% due to the recent build of 401 new homes, the Hall is bursting at the seams with demand exceeding capacity.
We are planning to grow - and we need your help!
We have a bold expansion plan to add a second smaller hall, a dedicated community room and an upgraded kitchen and toilet facilities plus solar panels and EV charging. This extension will allow us to hire out all three venues to host more than one event at a time and unlock space for:
- More family celebrations children's parties and community events
- Health and well-being sessions and outreach services
- Pop-up Library and community cafe
We are delighted that our planning application has been approved. We can now start to progress the building work but to complete this work we need to raise £680,000. We are busy applying for grants to help raise these funds, but we need your help!
