President’s Gala
The President's Gala is played on the President's home green.
This year, the President's Gala will be held on Sunday 11th August 2024 at Blackstones Bowls Club.
After all expenses have been paid, the remaining proceeds go to a charity of the President's choice; this year, the chosen charity is Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Format:
The competition is between teams of four playing 2-wood rinks.The teams are divided into two groups, with different start times.
The teams in each group are drawn on assigned rinks for the first round and play 8 ends, with points awarded for each end won or drawn as well as for an overall win or draw.
After the first round, the top-scoring teams in each group play each other in a round-robin format, with 8 ends in each round; the lower-scoring teams in each group also play each other in a round-robin format. Points are awarded as for the first round.
