Our Clubhouse & Green

Built in 1998, our Clubhouse is very modern, has excellent facilities and is the centre of club activities.  The clubhouse can be hired as a venue for various functions or meetings.

With a well-equipped kitchen and a well stocked bar, the Clubhouse is in regular use throughout the year for daytime and evening functions.  We ensure that the catering for our bowling guests and for functions is carried out to the highest standards and we have achieved a 5 star hygiene rating.

The modern Clubhouse was designed and built to accommodate two full-length mats for Short Mat bowling and is used for this purpose every week during the closed season.

Starcross boasts an excellent green which is regularly used by Bowls Devon for both men's and ladies' competitions.

The green is maintained by our Honorary Greenkeeper who is assisted by members.  Our 2020 programme was severely curtailed by the Covid pandemic and our greenkeeping team took the opportunity to do extensive upgrading and maintenance work.  We have also purchased additional machinery for the green maintenance.  As a result the green played very well during the 2022 season and continues to do so into 2023, thanks to the untiring efforts of the honorary Greenkeeper and his team.

The green can be set up bowling either towards the clubhouse or parallel with it, providing up to seven rinks in each direction.  Club Nights are arranged during the season where fun games are played and new bowlers are encouraged to join in.

We have qualified level 2 and level 1 coaches, who can give help and guidance to new bowlers.
