The Annual Shows
SVGA Annual Shows
Arguably, the highlights of any Gardening Association year are the Spring and Autumn Shows. These showcase both members and non members hard work throughout the seasons in a formal but easy going setting. Classes can include flowers, vegetables, cookery, flower arranging and craft for both adults and children. Schedules detail what and how to show your produce and then you turn up on the morning of the show to display them. The show is closed to the public while judges assess the entries and then it opens again in the afternoon for everyone to see the entries and how they got on. There are a number of prizes and trophies for winners which are presented at the end of the day.

Spring Show 2025
Sutton Valence Village Hall
Sunday 6th April

Autumn Show 2025
Sutton Valence Village Hall
Sunday 7th September
What a great display we had at our SVGA Autumn Show on Sunday 7th September 2025 in Sutton Valence Village Hall. The committee were a little apprehensive about the number of entries we might attract as the summer has been so hot, but as you can see, the entries were not just numerous, but great quality so that the judges had a difficult job, but all went well in the end. Prizes were presented by Councilor Martin Round, Mayor of Maidstone. We thank everyone who entered the show, those who attended, the volunteers who looked after the tea and cakes and all those who helped set up and clear away. Thanks also to members of the committee who worked so hard to bring the show together for another year.
SVGA Community Award
Sutton Valence Gardeners Association have introduced their latest award - The Community Award. The display will not be judged by the judges, but will be an addition to the spring or autumn show and will be viewed by members of the general public. To be in with a chance of winning this accolade, your club/organisation needs to put on a display at the show to demonstrate the talents of your members and to encourage people to join your organisation. The Sutton Valence Primary School are out first winners with their stunning display of crafts at the spring and autumn shows this year, 2025. Well done to all the children involved for their imaginative work. Which organisation will be next to win the shield. Will it be yours??
To be in with a chance you should email Ross at suttonvalencegardeners@gmail.com and let her know that you would like to compete for the Community Award at the next show, which will in this instance be the Spring Show in 2026. We cant wait to see what creations you come up with to promote your organisation. Lets see what hidden talents we have locally. Hope to see you there!!
