A Brief History

Doug Leak, our 2017/18 Chairman and longest standing member, kindly put together this brief history of TKSMBC.

The club was started by Mr Barry Lane and Mr Frank Hall, both of whom lived in the village of Tarrant Keyneston. They got the first two bowling short mats to get the club up and running.

We have now been running for almost thirty years.

We play in the old school building, which was left to the local community to use as a village hall.

We have a membership of both male and female adults, and also juniors who play for the club at league level.

We have two teams which play in the Blackmore Vale League, and we also enter two teams in the Dorset Short Mat Bowls League. In addition, we play against local teams in friendly games, home and away.

The club night is always on a Thursday night. All who would like to give it a go will be most welcome.
