Aims and Objectives

Uffington Parish Council aims to provide effective, efficient and accountable local government in order to maintain and improve the overall village area, both built and natural, for all parishioners, whilst preserving the setting and character of heritage areas.

To achieve this the following objectives are ongoing:

  • ensure compliance with all legislation pertaining to local government.
  • encourage and support all relevant policies and initiatives of the UK Government, Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse/South Oxfordshire District Councils relating to climate change and the sustainability of the environment.
  • provide a strong voice for all residents, working with them to achieve these aims and objectives.
  • effective communicate plans, actions and achievements and enable residents to comment on and be involved in the development of the village.
  • maintain in a safe an cost-effective manner the assets of the Council.
  • Consider, and where necessary comment on all planning applications. 
  • where possible utilise S106/CIL funding resources to achieve the successful completion of projects minimising any impact of council resources.

Following the completion of the project to provide new play equipment during 2024-5, while there are no major projects planned for 2025-6 the council has specific focus on:

  • continue to improve the amenities of the Jubilee Field for the village with a focus on the pond area.
  • improve parking facilities at the Allotment Garden.
  • maintain pressure of local authorities to mitigate the effect of flooding and pollution in the area.
  • provide a new website for council complying with accessibility requirements and the relevant legislation regarding content.
