At a time when more and more of us are becoming disconnected from nature, that relationship with the countryside is under threat. As pressures on Oxfordshire’s Green Belt continue to grow, fostering a deeper connection between people and the landscapes around them has never been more important.

That’s why CPRE Oxfordshire is launching our Love Your Countryside campaign—our response to this challenge.

Through this project, we will work with communities on the edge of Oxford’s Green Belt to restore neglected meadow habitats, strengthen biodiversity, and—crucially—help people reconnect with the countryside on their doorstep. Because when people experience and value these places, they are far more likely to stand up for them.

We’re delighted that this work will be supported through Big Give Earth Raise, meaning that from midday 22–29 April, every donation made to CPRE Oxfordshire will be doubled.

With your support, we will:

  • Restore fragile meadow habitats in the Green Belt, helping to reverse decades of biodiversity loss
  • Equip communities with practical conservation skills, from habitat management to ecological surveying
  • Improve wellbeing and reduce social isolation by increasing access to nature
  • Inspire long-term stewardship, empowering people to care for and defend their local countryside

As CPRE celebrates its 100th anniversary, this campaign is about securing the future of the Green Belt—not just through policy, but through people. By rebuilding connection, we are building the foundations for lasting protection.

We’ll share more details when the campaign goes live, but for now, please save the date and consider supporting us during this special week of matched giving. You can see our campaign page here.

Together, we can ensure that Oxfordshire’s Green Belt is not only protected—but deeply valued and loved.
