Tidworth and Ludgershall

A huge change has occurred with our shed environment. By working longer hours and extra days the main shed is unrecognisable from its day as a garage.

The inside has been painted (including floor) and purpose built (French style) tool holders have been fitted to some walls. The style of them allows missing or incorrectly placed tools to be found easily. There has been a major tidy-up and areas are designated for certain activities. Electricity has  been installed and certified. The meter is read monthly to keep an eye on consumption.

We now have a smaller 'clean shed' this was built by design from plans and made in sections to complete it. It is fully insulated, painted and furnished. Used mainly as a tea room and social centre it is also used for projects that need a clean atmosphere. A smaller shed has also been erected to keep outside tools used to keep the area tidy.

The main shed was planned over the last two years and work has progressed in stages with help from members. It was officially opened  by the Tidworth Area Board Chairman Chris Williams and attended by local dignitaries and members.

Funding to start the shed came from grants from Tidworth Area Board and RVS/Asda foundations and also trustees of Ludgershall Youth Club who allow the garage to be used to set up the Mens Shed.

To raise funds projects were completed for GUL outdoor therapy centre at Shrewton  (wildlife hide) and Tidworth Youth Football Team (renovated serving hatch for refreshment hut).

Future projects include changing an area inside Netheravon Village Hall and helping renovate equipment and buildings at the Saddle Club. We help other voluntary organisations where we can.

As part of our social life we had an evening Christmas meal at a local pub. An enjoyable time was had by all.

The membership of the club is growing steadily and we are planning a general meeting along with an open day to give people a chance to see how we work.

We are always open to new fund-raising projects. Any ideas??
