Victory park bowls club are situated in a lovely spot on the edge of Victory Park near Cainscross, Stroud and pride ourselves on being a very friendly club offering games to suit all abilities, including those with a competitive streak.

Our 2021 season runs from April  the 24th all the way through until the middle of September. Sunday May 9th, will be our OPEN DAY where all newcomers or seasoned bowlers wanting to return to the sport are welcome to have a FREE taster session guided by our own members. All bowls are provided and instruction on the basic points of this very relaxing and social sport will be given. You only need your own soft flat-soled shoes, to protect the green. Food will be available throughout the day and the bar will be open. As a way of promoting the sport, our governing body 'Bowls England' are asking clubs to hold a 'National Open Day' where all clubs in England are encouraged to take part. Victory Park will hold their National Open Day promotion on Friday 28th May between 6.30 and dusk. Please come along, you never know you maybe harbouring hidden talents.

Traditional games include weekend friendlies on both Saturdays and Sundays with midweek triples games most weeks. Mens and Ladies leagues are also played and take place either Monday for ladies or Tuesday for the gents. Every Friday evening, following a Club social game we have a fun night including drinks at the bar, food and a competitive but friendly quiz.

Because of the restrictions, we had a very limited calendar in 2020 with no county or league games but we did manage to put on 3 pairs leagues which proved to be very popular and we are all hoping that the coming season will be restriction free enabling us to fulfil a very long awaited successful playing year. Watch this space for updates.

Throughout the closed season the greens committee updated and installed a new 10,000ltr water tank replacing the old 5000ltr metal one which has had an inherent leak for quite some years for the watering of the green. All works were carried out by our greens committee and some volunteers of which I know all our current members are really grateful as this had been discussed for a few years now.

Although we have a good, strong membership we always welcome new members of all ages, all you need is a pair of flat-soled shoes and some enthusiasm to learn the game!

See you soon (hopefully).

Committee.
