Our green was put to bed on the 17th of October.

That is to say it underwent its annual Autumn maintenance, carried out by a team of professionals. The maintenance process was meticulous and designed to prepare the green for the upcoming season.

The first step involved scarifying the green, which was performed not once, but twice to ensure the removal of all dead grass. Following this, a hollow coring machine was employed to extract soil cores to a depth of 4-6 inches, maintaining consistent spacing throughout. Subsequently, a slit tiner was used, reaching a depth of about 8-9 inches. Simultaneously, the team ensured that the excess waste from the coring and scarifying was removed from the green's surface.

To safeguard against potential fungal diseases, the entire green received a protective application of fungicide. After this essential precaution, the entire area was seeded, and a final top dressing was generously applied.

This comprehensive Autumn maintenance not only ensures the green's health and vitality but also sets the stage for optimal playing conditions in the upcoming season.
