Briffet Cup
Briffett Cup - Guidelines
Guidelines for the WBC Monday Evening League.
Teams of 3 playing Aussie Pairs on Monday evenings 6.15 to 8.15pm, only 2 players per game.
Teams to be decided by seeded ballot at the pre-season meeting to give each team an equal range of experience and ability.
The actual playing pairs each week will be decided by the teams as the season progresses with each member playing an equal number of games during the season, where possible.
No matches to be postponed through player unavailability. If a team is a player short a substitute can be drawn from, firstly, a member not otherwise in a team or, secondly, a non-player from another team.
In the event of abandonment agreed by both teams, eg for weather, each team will receive 1 point.
No 2 family members shall play in the same team so that a family can have a week off without that match being postponed.
The season start and length will be dictated by the number of teams (a max of 12) but the season mid-point will be the end of June.
The fixtures will be decided before the season starts but the rinks will be drawn on the night.
The matches shall be 2 hours in duration, starting on the bell at 6.15pm with any end started (the jack being set) when the end bell rings being completed.
2 league points will be awarded for a win, 1 each team for a draw, with league positions being decided first by points and then by number of shots should the points be equal.
The laws of bowls should be adhered to with no dead ends- the jack being placed on the tee should it go outside the rink during play.
Club clothing should be worn unless teams decide on different clothing, but each team member should wear the same colours.
The bar will open for matches and there will be a match fee of £1.00.
The Briffett Cup will be presented at the club prizegiving evening.
