Lest we Forget – our Strood Soldier

February 2020

West Mersea Bowls Club, through the generosity of its members, has paid tribute to the men who were killed in action during World War 1 by purchasing a Strood Soldier in January 2020.  Prior to this date, the Strood Soldiers, which were erected on the Strood marshes, have provided a fitting Memorial to the 51 soldiers who came from Mersea and Peldon, with numerous photos being circulated around the world.
