Welcome to Wheathill Parish Council
Wheathill is a rural parish in South Shropshire with a population of 183 (2021 Census). The parish includes the villages of Loughton and Silvington, along with the hamlet of Bromdon, and is characterised by its open countryside and strong sense of community.
Wheathill Parish contains 14 listed buildings, reflecting its long history and rural heritage.
Parish Council meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, starting at 7pm, in the Shoot Room Annex at the Three Horseshoes Pub. Residents are welcome to attend.
According to the 2021 Census, the largest age group within the parish is residents aged 75–79 (11.5%), followed by those aged 50–54 (9.5%), with 2.2% of the population aged between 30 and 34.
Working patterns within the parish reflect modern rural life, with 35.4% of residents working from home and a further 20.8% travelling over 30km to their place of work.
The population is fairly evenly balanced, with females accounting for 52.7% of residents. Health outcomes are particularly strong, with 85.8% of parishioners reporting good or very good health – well above the national average – highlighting the benefits of rural living and access to open countryside.
