Wigston Bowling Club has had its green on Peace Memorial Park since 1922.  The land was purchased in 1921 by the then Wigston Urban District Council to be made into a park in memory of the men from Wigston who fought in the Great War of 1914-1918.

The schedule referred to the land being kept as an open space for ever and at all times hereafter be maintained and upheld by the Council as a public park for public resort and recreation (primarily for the people of Great Wigston).  This will include one or more bowling greens and one or more tennis courts.

The Ladies section of the club was formed in 1937.  It was disbanded in 1961; The reason is unknown as there doesn't appear to be any written information.  The Ladies club restarted on Wednesday 26th April 1972.  (More information is contained in the history as noted below).  The Ladies club amalgamated with the Men's club in April 2022.

The history of the park and bowls club is contained in a document written by a member of the Greater Wigston Historical Society in 1995. This is held by the club secretary.
