Do you want to see 60 new homes in Sutton Scotney?

This is the number that Winchester City Council are seeking to allocate to Sutton Scotney in the updated Local Plan. The piece of land they are considering has been assessed as having capacity for twice this number.

Do you think the current infrastructure can cope with more new homes?

The Parish Council have been given until the end of May to provide feedback to the City Council and would very much like to hear from residents about their views on further development.

The Parish Council have raised concerns with the City Council about the lack of infrastructure in Sutton Scotney. Namely the lack of school places, poor public transport, lack of mains gas and, perhaps most seriously, the lack of mains sewerage and the severe problems being encountered as a result of overwhelmed and failing sewage treatment systems.

This is the time to make your views heard

The Parish Council needs evidence of the views of residents to future development to present to the City Council. Without this evidence the proposed development is likely to be incorporated in the Local Plan, making it easy for a developer to receive planning permission.

How to respond

  • Contact the City Council directly via email: planningpolicy@winchester.gov.uk
  • Send your views to the Parish Council via email: wonstonpc@hotmail.co.uk
  • Attend the next Parish Council meeting on Wednesday 11th May (from 7.30pm in the meeting room of the Victoria Hall). There is an opportunity for the public to speak at the start of the meeting.
  • Attend the Parish Assembly on Thursday 12th May (from 7.45pm in the main hall of the Victoria Hall). This is a short, informal meeting specifically for residents to meet with the Parish Councillors.
