Winchester City Council are currently developing the new Local Plan. A key part of this work is accommodating the housing growth, as required by Government targets, up to 2039 and deciding how these homes will be allocated across the district.

Planning Officers have identified Wonston Parish for potential new housing and one preliminary (virtual) meeting was held with the Parish Council on 10th March.

The Parish Council seek to represent the views of parishioners but there are currently three vacancies on the Council and the responsibility falls heavily on the shoulders of the few who are prepared to represent their community. We need more councillors in order to ensure that the views of residents are represented and are heard by the Planning Authority. Please take time to consider whether you could contribute to the discussions on housing growth and what is in the best interests of the Parish. The time commitment is not onerous (usually 2-5 hours per month), the responsibility is something that would be easier if shared across a full quotient of councillors.

If you feel that you could help to serve the community at this very important time please come along to a meeting or contact Jocelyn, the Clerk, to discuss any questions you may have. wonstonpc@hotmail.co.uk or 01794 368951
