Lions Child Screening Camera
Wrexham Lions Club are taking part in the new World-Wide project. Vision for the Future. Lions Child Sight UK. Aims to ensure that children across the UK have access to early vision screenings, especially in schools.
The screening camera looks at the mechanics of each eye, Non-invasive: The camera takes a picture from a short distance without touching the child's face. Mechanic examination: It evaluates the focus, alignment, and internal mechanics of the eye rather than just testing letter recognition. Early detection: The screening acts as an indicator to spot hidden issues like amblyopia (lazy eye), refractive errors, or misalignment, and issues a referral to an optician if further testing is needed.
It is a quick and easy way to screen many young people in a short time period. The Lions Child Sight UK project primarily screens children aged 5 to 7 years old for vision issues. This age range is considered optimal for detecting undiagnosed eye problems.
