September was a busy month for Parkside Bowls Club beginning with the honour of hosting the Semi-finals of the St Albans and District Ladies competitions culminating with a fun gala day to finish off our season.

In between both Greenside and Woodside completed their Welwyn and Hatfield fixtures finishing mid table in the 1st and 2nd divisions respectively.

In the St Albans and District Ladies Association our ladies finished a very respectable 3rd in the Friday League.

Our club competition finals were completed over 4 days due to the success and star of the finals, Ken Hosier. Ken competed in four finals and won them all, namely The 4321, The Pairs with Gloria Robertson, The Mens Singles and The Handicap. Other winners were Mick Looney in The Novices, Colin Jones in The Two Woods and Avril Randall in The Ladies Singles (just as well Ken couldn't enter this one). Well done to all the finalists.

In the Welwyn and Hatfield Finals, Alan Croshaw was victorious in the Jock Hunter Trophy but narrowly lost 21-20 in the Open Singles. Well done Alan. It was very good to see so many of the club members supporting Alan at the WGC Bowls Club.

Well done to Marge, Penny, Cliff and Colin reaching the quarter finals on their recent holiday at Potters.

We held our final Gala Day on 25th September which was really good fun. About 30 members played fun games with Sheila Sullivan being the winning lady with 115 points, but the overall winner was Colin Jones with 150 points.

Thank you to all involved in helping with the refreshments provided and other duties throughout the season.
