About Us

We were founded in 1908 by a local group of residents and farmers and for many years the Horticultural Show was held in a barn on the outskirts of Denmead.

In 2021 we celebrate our 70th Summer show.

Since the 2000's the Village summer show has been combined with the Horticultural show.

For our monthly talks we meet in the Church Hall, All Saints Church, Hambledon Road, Denmead, PO7 6NN, on the first Tuesday of each month (excluding January, August or December) at 7:30pm.

We start the evening with announcements and then we have a visiting speaker who talks and presents to us on their specialist subject for about an hour.

We conclude the evening with a cup of tea, a raffle and a chat.

We usually organise a few outings per year to local gardens, sometimes these are linked to a subsequent or previous talk by the owner at our Tuesday meetings.

As a society we run three shows a year, namely, The Spring Show; The Summer Village Show and the Pumpkin Show.

Our annual subscription is £12 per member, but if you would like to come to a talk as a guest, you are more than welcome.

We charge £2 for an evening guest.

The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies. – Gertrude Jekyll
