Short Mat Bowling
Short Mat Bowling
Growing in popularity, our Short Mat Bowling is held on weekday evenings during the closed season and is one of our regular winter social events as well as having the attraction of the competitive bowling. Triples teams are entered and bowl in a competitive internal league, competing for a trophy. There are 15 ends in a match which lasts approximately 2 hours and games are played according to ESMBA rules. These games have become a very popular social event and people who are not playing that evening often come to watch or to assist as scorekeepers, etc. The bar is open and non-members and prospective bowlers are always welcome to come along.
For the 2022-23 winter we had 14 teams of triples entered and played two or three times each week on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings, depending on team availability. The round-robin league for the Rita Lake Rose Bowl was completed at the end of March 2023.
The final results for 2023 are shown below.
