Annual Starcross Open Mixed Triples Tournament

This annual event, which was initiated in 1992 by one of our Club's benefactors, John Northcott, has missed only two years since inception (2012 because of flooding and 2020 because of Covid restrictions).  It was originally organised by John Northcott and then Alan and Pauline Jarvis and now a small committee from the Club ensures that this great event continues every year.  It has become a very popular event in this area and since 2019 teams have even come from Somerset to take part.  The tournament is held on the first Sunday in August, so in 2023 it was held on Sunday 6th August.

The competition consists of 24 mixed triples teams split into 2 groups.  The 12 teams in group 1 begin bowling at 09:30 and bowl for an hour or 8 ends, whichever is the shorter.  This is then followed at 10:35 by group 2.  Each team plays 4 games.  Tea and coffee are available on arrival and lunch and afternoon tea are included in the entrance fee.  Currently the 2024 tournament is fully subscribed and there is a waiting list.
