Old Friends

We knew each other as young men
And when we meet we're young again.
Can't think of you as elderly
And nor can you think that of me.
Yet when we meet those of our years
Who we've not known, it just appears
That they are old, have done their time
And not like us, still in our prime.
Although they clearly see the truth,
That we are ages past our youth!
