General League Rules

WIMBLEDON & DISTRICT BOWLING ASSOCIATION

General League Rules

LR1:  All affiliated clubs may apply to join the Wimbledon & District Weekend and/or Midweek League(s). Applications to join either, or both, League(s) must be submitted before the AGM.

LR2:  An entry fee shall be levied against all participating clubs, in both the Weekend and Midweek Leagues.  Clubs must pay entry fees by 1st April, the date stated on WDBA Affiliation Forms, which will be sent out annually by the Association Secretary.

LR3:  If, when all matches have been played in either League, two or more clubs have the same points total, the shot difference will decide their position in the League table.

LR4:  Clubs are NOT allowed to play one league match for DOUBLE points.

PLAYER REGISTRATION:

LR5:  Each participating club must submit a list of Registered Players to the League Secretary at least 7 days prior to their first League Match.  If further players are registered then they will be eligible to play 7 days after their names have been submitted to the League Secretary.

LR6:   If a player is registered with a club that participates in both the Weekend and Midweek Leagues they may only play for that club during the season.

LR7:  If a player is registered with a club that plays solely in the Weekend League they may also register with a club that plays solely in the Midweek League and they may then play for both clubs during the season.  They may not play for any other participating club(s) during the season.

RESULTS:

LR8:  When either a Weekend or Midweek League match has been completed, the Secretary or Captain of the WINNING TEAM shall send a result card to the League Secretary within 48 hours.  In the event of a drawn match, both teams shall   send a result card to the League Secretary.

LR9:  The League Secretary shall keep an account of the shots and points scored by each club, in each completed match, and at reasonable periods during the season update Results and League Tables on the Associations website.

RE-ARRANGED MATCHES:

LR10:  If a match is not played, for any reason other than a concession, then both clubs must inform the League Secretary of this fact within 48 hours of the originally agreed date.  Both clubs must make a concerted effort to re-arrange the match at a later date.  The League Secretary should be informed of the Re-arranged date within 14 days of the originally arranged date.  If both clubs are in agreement re-arranged matches may be played on weekday evenings, at a time mutually agreed upon by both clubs.

INCOMPLETE MATCHES:

LR11:  If the minimum number of ends, which constitute a completed match, are not completed, for any reason, they shall be completed at a later date, to be mutually agreed upon by both clubs concerned, and the match resumed with the scores as they were when the match stopped.  An end commenced but not completed is declared NULL & VOID.  It is not a requirement that the players who started the original match must be the same players that complete the match, even though the ends required to complete the match would be a continuation of the original match.    In any case where an unfinished match cannot be mutually re-arranged, and played to a finish, this fact should be reported to the Hon. League Secretary by both clubs. Clubs may, or may not, receive points at the Executive Committee’s discretion.

UNPLAYED MATCHES:

LR12:  If for any reason a match remains unplayed, as a result of one or both clubs being unable to play on a previously arranged date, a concession not being forthcoming from either team or every effort being made, by both teams, to re-arrange the match then the League Secretary should be informed, at the earliest opportunity.  A decision will then be made as to whether either team is at fault and whether any League Points will be awarded or deducted.  One or both clubs will have the right to appeal against any such decision.
