BEDS VPs (73) MATCH REPORT 26th OCT 2025

BEDS VPs (73) MATCH REPORT 26th OCTOBER 2025

Sunday 26th October 2025 saw the Bedfordshire VPs match their bowling skills against the Letchworth & District B.A. with the venue being Kempston Park I.B.C. The number of players wishing to play in this fixture was a staggering 30 with the format for the afternoon being 6 triples. Sadly with our high numbers some players will have to go on standby but i am sure they understood the dilemma we faced. On arrival we were met with a lots of smiling faces from our opposition coupled with a good feel of friendship. With all players arriving on time the game started as scheduled with plenty of enthusiasm by both Associations. Well after ten ends the game was evenly poised with the score being fifty - fifty (50-50) so from that time on it was going to be who can hold their nerve and come out victorious. Unfortunately it was not going to be the VPs, as we finally lost the match by 90-98. Near and yet so far, but all of you did your very best. Highlights for us was the 2 drawing triples being Dave Jones, Keith Howe and Peter Denton who managed to draw on the last end. And the other triple being Robin Mowe, Rosemarie Duke and Fiona Mowe who also drew on their last end. Well done to all of them. We did have a highest winning rink which was Geoff Ashley, Sandra Tuffnell and with Tony Duke at the helm who certainly did us proud. Congratulations and well done to them. We were very fortunate in welcoming a new member to our Association namely David Atterbury who received a small memento to mark the occasion. David had an excellent game and we hope he plays in many more games for us in the future. As usual lots of laughter and banter was had by all which made the afternoon a complete success and we certainly look forward in meeting with them again in December. Well the meal we had after the game was homemade chicken pie, mash potatoes and fresh vegetables with a delicious chocolate or strawberry gateau as a pudding. Thanks were given to Kempston Park in allowing us to use their superb facilities.
