Letchworth & District 10th December 2023

BEDFORDSHIRE VPs MATCH REPORT 10TH DECEMBER 2023

Sunday 10th December 2023 the Bedfordshire VPs were taking on the reverse fixture against our old adversary Letchworth & District B,A, with the venue being Riverain I.B.C. and their excellent facilities. The match was going to be 6 triples so it was no problem for us in getting 18 keen players to take them on. The previous fixture which was played in October proved rather disappointing for us as we were soundly beaten by 39 shots. Could we get our revenge, well as the game progressed and after 9 ends the Bedfordshire VPs found themselves in a commanding lead with the score being 41-23. One of our triples on rink 6 were winning with a remarkable score of 20-1. How good is that. We then had a break and were treated to tea and biscuits which was most welcoming and then we made our way back full of confidence to complete the game The second 9 ends proved to be a different kettle of fish because the Letchworth players somewhat rallied and remarkably overcome the deficit and ran out winners with a score of 106-116. Congratulations go to them We managed to win on 3 rinks but the triple being the highest winning rink was skip Jenny Rogers,Taff Roberts and Brenda Howe. What a great performance and well done to them. The meal after the game was chicken pie with vegetables followed by sponge and custard which was given ten out of ten, excellent.
