BEDS VPs MATCH REPORT MAY 28th 2026

BEDS VPs (84) MATCH REPORT MAY 28th 2026

May 28th 2026 being one of the hottest days of the year when the Bedfordshire VPs ventured to Stony Stratford B.C. to play the fixture against the Buckinghamshire VPs.

All was going very well with enough players wishing to play, but one by one players were becoming unavailable and we ended up with just 17 players. Stony Stratford on hearing our plight kindly loaned us one of their players who by chance was their club  president. Thank you Dave Jacklin for helping us out. We must also thank Sue and Geoff Bell who also stepped in at the last minute.

The format was going to be 6 triples and only play 15 ends due to the extremely hot weather, it was also agreed that we would stop play after 8 ends for about 15 minutes so that players can try and cool down. This decision was appreciated by all. With plenty of cold water available the second half of the match got underway.

Bedfordshire VPs got off to a flier midway with the score 54-40 in our favour, then we produced some magic and finally romped home with the majestic score of 92-67.

We did have a highest winning rink being John Blyth, Geoff Bell and Gervais Cave as skip. Many congratulations go to them.

Thanks were given to Stony Stratford B.C. in letting us use their facilities to play fixtures of this nature so that two vice Presidents Associations can pit their skills against each other.

Ham and egg salad was on the menu for the meal afterwards with chocolate cheesecake to follow, an ideal meal to end a perfect day.
