BEDS VPs MATCH REPORT AUGUST 23rd 2026

BEDS VPs (91) MATCH REPORT AUGUST 23rd 2026

Sunday 23rd 2026 was a sunny afternoon with the temperatures being much more bearable than the recent extreme heat we have experienced, the Bedfordshire VPs travelled to Wilstead B.C. for the much awaited bowls encounter. Sadly due to some of our members becoming unavailable for one reason or another we just managed to get 15 players. Thankfully Chris Saunders managed to get a player from her home club and Wilstead loaning us 2 players so it was all systems go for 6 x triples. So a special thanks to Mike Unwin, Roger Hopkins and Sally Henderson for helping us out. Well what a battle we had with both teams doing their utmost to forge ahead and after 9 ends the VPs were trailing 38-44, so we had a bit of making up to do. Well it was not to be despite some good performances and we eventually lost the match 93-101. As you can see some of the scores were very marginal and I think you all did us proud. We had a highest winning rink being Bob Saunders, Harold Bryant and masterfully skipped by Rosemarie Duke. Well done and congratulations. We had a wonderful afternoon with the game played in good spirit, plenty of of laughter and more importantly making new friends. The meal provided after the game was Chicken salad followed by roulade with cream and if you wanted it cheese and biscuits. What a meal, absolutely wonderful and well done to Wilstead B.C.
