BEDS VPs MATCH REPORT JULY 30th 2026

BEDS VPs (88) MATCH REPORT JULY 30th 2026 The weather was a cool 24 degrees when the Bedfordshire VPs played Langford B.C. on Thursday 30th July which after the continuous hot weather we have been having made bowling much more pleasing. We did have plenty of names originally wanting to play but due to various reasons we found ourselves down to a mere 16 players. Langford came to the rescue and kindly loaned us a player which we were very grateful, this is where Alan Ratcliffe and Pat Irons came to the rescue by offering to play a half a game each. Now it must be known that both of these players have not played any outdoor matches for some considerable time due to health issues so we must offer our sincere thanks and gratitude. It was decided to play 3 rinks and 2 triples and just to play 14 ends with a rest break of 15 minutes after 7 ends which all agreed was a good idea. The midway score was 29-29 so it was all to play for. We battled well with some remarkable bowling, however we just fell at the last hurdle and lost the match by 55-69. We did have a highest winning rink being Geoff Conquest, Harold Bryant, Debbie Inseal with Kim Douglas as skip. What a fine job they did and our congratulations go to them. Well the meal provided after the match was a very tasty BBQ with all the trimmings and to top it all everybody was offered an ice cream after which really completed a great afternoon.
