BEDS VPs MATCH REPORT JULY 19th 2026

BEDS VPs (87) MATCH REPORT JULY 19th 2026.
The fixture played on Sunday 19th July was against our friends from Woburn Sands B.C. and with
a very good response from our members it was agreed to play 6 triples.
Well the weather was not quite as hot as we have experienced the previous few days which made
bowling much more pleasurable. With plenty of water available to make sure we were well
hydrated the game got under way.
The early part of the game honours were about even however as the game progressed Woburn
Sands upped their game and romped home worthy winners to the score of 90-123.
Congratulations and well done to them.
We welcomed a new player (although she had been a previous member) to our fold namely Jackie
Cameron. A small memento was give to Jackie to mark the occasion and we look forward in
seeing her playing in future matches.
The highlight of the afternoon was on rink 3 being John Blyth, Marie Crowe and skilfully skipped
by Rob Leonard. It was on the last end with us having a 2 shot advantage, Woburn Sands
produced some magic bowling and were holding at least 2 shots when Rob on the very last bowl
of the match produced a shot of a lifetime by hitting and trailing the jack for a winning shot and
eventually won by 3. Super achievement by all. They also ended up the only winning rink.
Another exciting finish was on rink 6 being Taff Roberts, Helen Donkin and skip Peter Denton who
on the very last end scored 2 magnificent shots to end up by drawing 18-18. Tremendous
performance and determination by everyone.
Great afternoon was had by all, meeting up with old friends and certainly making new ones.
An excellent meal was provided being meat pie, potato mash and vegetables and followed by
banoffee pudding. Simply delicious.
