BEDS VPS MATCH REPORT MARCH 26th 2026

The final fixture of our indoor season took place on March 26th 2026 with our opponents being Northampton Retired Police B.A. The venue was Wellingborough I.B.C. If anybody who has not played at Wellingborough they have missed a treat. The facilities are exceptional and the welcome we received was brilliant. With only 15 players available it looked ominous as to whether the game would take place if any of our players dropped out. I relayed this to the captain of the Police and he said he could loan us 3 players and that we would play all being well 6 triples. At the halfway stage we found ourselves trailing 36-50 so it looked as though we had a mountain to climb to win the game. Sadly it was not meant to be as we finally lost the game by 81-127 despite all our best efforts. I must say they were a very strong team and thoroughly deserved their win. Our congratulations go to them. We did have a highest winning rink being Keith Oran (loan), Taff Roberts and magnificently skipped by Geoff Ashley. Well done to them. We have got an outdoor fixture in May when we play them again so hopefully revenge will be sweet. The meal served after the game was an ample portion of sausage & bacon casserole followed by the traditional apple crumble and custard. Absolutely superb. A great afternoon was had by all.
