BEDS VP MATCH REPORT JULY 20th 2025

BEDS VP MATCH REPORT JULY 20th 2025

Sunday 20th July the Bedfordshire VPs travelled to the eagerly waited fixture against Woburn Sands B.C. This is one fixture that we know will be competitive but a real pleasure meeting old friends and playing on an excellent green. We mustered 21 players and Woburn Sands kindly loaned us a player so we played 4 rinks and 2 triples and despite getting soundly beaten we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did have 1 rink plus a triple managing to draw in their games but we also managed to have a highest winning rink being Taff Roberts, Robin Mowe, Jeff Inseal and superbly skipped by Fiona Mowe. Our congratulations go to these players on a job well done. A small gift was given to the Woburn loan player Caroline Lines who had a wonderful game and to her we would like to say thank you. At the halfway mark the score was 40-57 in favour of Woburn but regardless of our best efforts we f inally lost the match by the score 84-120. Beaten but not down. As we expected the green was in excellent condition and played really well which was a credit to their green keepers which makes bowling much more pleasurable. We knew that the meal afterwards was going to be a roast dinner but to everyone’s delight and surprise it turned out to be turkey plus the trimmings followed by a lemon meringue wedge and cream. What a wonderful meal was had by one and all. Thanks were given to Woburn Sands B.C. for a great and enjoyable afternoon and we sincerely hope this fixture continues well into the future.
