Intergenerational Tournament

Mark up your diaries for 11 July 2026!

After the success of the last 4 years the Intergenerational Tournament will be back again in 2026.

I am sure that all our families still wonder why on earth we all spend so much time at the green and what is the fascination with bowls. So now is the chance to show them and get them involved.

The tournament is open to any member to enter with someone from their family from a different generation. Pairs could be two adults, an adult and teenager, an adult and a child. (There is a degree of flexibility!)

Each pair will play at least 3 games of pairs and support will be provided for the younger players/non bowlers with advice/help as needed e.g. bias, scoring, measuring etc.

The jack length will be appropriate for the pairs playing.

There will be a skills competition for everyone to enter.

Play will start at 1:30pm and should finish by 5pm.

Tea, coffee, cold drinks and cakes will be available throughout, but feel free to bring your own snacks and drinks if you wish.

What will it cost to enter the tournament…

Entry will be £5 per pair.

Never played before…

New bowlers can have a practice and tuition from 12:15pm on the day, or why not bring them along ahead of the day to have a go.

What to wear…

Casual dress and flat soled shoes.

Do each member of the team need their own bowls…

Bowls are available from children’s sizes upwards for any bowlers who need them.

Not looking to play on the day…

This event is intended to be a real bowls celebration with families and friends. Whether you wish to play, come along to spectate or help out, we would love all our members to attend.

Please contact Kim so we have an idea of numbers and what support is available to help make the afternoon a success.

Here's what happened in 2025!

Will Ruth and Chloe take the win in 2026?

On 12 July we welcomed 10 couples (one over and one under 18) to take part in our intergenerational tournament. Each played 3 six end games, with 3 2 1 scoring.

After some close competitive bowling and lots of measuring, a winning team were crowned! It was a close run thing, 6 pairs ended up on 4 points, however Ruth and Chloe won with the best shot difference and retained the trophy after winning in 2024.

In second place were father and daughter Andy and Lilia.

Winner of the spider was Dieter and of the corner to corner was Andy.

Congratulations to everyone! It was a lovely afternoon with some skilful bowls and lots of laughter.

Thank you to markers Sue and Paul who were kept super busy with their measures!
