Tea Rota and Guidance

TEA ROTA GUIDANCE -  2024

You will need to bring sufficient milk for the day (usually 2 litres) and provide raffle prizes up to the value of £10. (one prize for each rink i.e. 3 or 4 prizes). The cost of the prizes will be refunded by the treasurer if you present a receipt. Everything else will be  provided by the club.

  • On arrival, fill the urn with water using a large jug and turn it on. (it is thermostatically controlled & will switch on and off once it reaches the correct temperature).
  • Check with the Captain of the day how many rinks are playing and the numbers of the rinks that have been allocated. Check Skips  have order slips for coffee/tea requirements and they are completed and returned to you before the start of the game. (slips can be found in a plastic folder on the notice board). Check if there are any visitors (we provide tea and biscuits for visitors).
  • Ask the Captain of the Day when they would like tea served (usually after 9 ends). Also confirm where they would prefer tea to be served (on balcony or in the club house). If tea is to be served on the balcony you will need to set up table and chairs (with assistance).
  • Wipe down the table cloths, trays and work surfaces. Place 6 mugs and tea spoons on each tray and place the trays on a long table in the club house.
  • Fill sugar basins and place on the tray with the corresponding rink number and completed drink slip.
  • Fill milk jugs & put into the fridge until you are ready to serve tea.
  • Put a plate of sweet/ savoury biscuits on each tray (6 packets).
  • Put raffle tickets on the tables, kept in the cupboard under the kitchen counter. Guidance notes are on a typed sheet inside one of the boxes - another copy is also on a notice board.
  • After 9 ends have been played, ring the bell to indicate tea is about to be served. Boil 2 kettles (for coffee). Wait until the first rink comes into the club house before making the tea (from urn) and placing teapots onto the trays. Make coffees. A member of the home team will collect their tray and serve the teas. They may ask for the tea pot to be refilled.
  • Once the players have returned to the green, collect the raffle money from the  tables, the treasurer or Captain of the day will take this to be banked.
  • Clear the tables/trays, wash dishes, replace the crockery and cutlery in the cupboards. Wipe down the tables/trays and work surfaces and hoover the carpet (if needed). Please remember to empty the tea bags into the food caddie.
  • Turn off and unplug the urn, (do not attempt to empty it if the water is still hot).
  • Please take any rubbish home with you as the refuse collectors do not visit the clubhouse.

Thank you so much for doing the teas, it is really appreciated by all the members and visitors. Please do not hesitate to ask a committee member if you need any advice or support.
