Bilton Bowling Club Dates from the Diary April 2025

First Match of the Season A great start to the season with good weather, a beautifully prepared green and a win on the first turn out for a match against Daventry Tigers. We are truly grateful at Bilton for the great team of people who give their time, enthusiasm and knowledge to support the club.

Management Committee in March The new style management committee met recently, monitoring all the ongoing activities needed to run the Club and planning activities for the coming months. You can find notes from the last meeting on the new noticeboards. Please support where you can. We know some members are still actively working, have family commitments, holidays and health ups and downs. Give what you can when you can and the club thrives on it.

Club Competition Thank you to John for all the hard work getting the club internal competition up and running. Information has been sent directly and put on noticeboards and the website. Any question give John a ring.

Bowls in Torremolinos Garry Oakley organised an excellent tour and a great week playing 3 different bowls clubs in Spain. A selection of photos can be seen in the websites gallery.

Club Storage Project The new shed is up and looking excellent. This has kindly been paid for by grants from a local Rugby Councillor and Clarion Futures Foundation to allow us to store large equipment away from those using the hall and to make equipment more accessible to members by being nearer to the green. We send reports to our funders to show how this benefits members at the Club so please let us know your thoughts as the project goes on, helpful ones!

Centenary Survey Thank you to everyone who filled in the Centenary survey. Results show an overall preference to celebrate the anniversary with a special celebration meal. More information to follow.

Coming Up

Memorial Day Sunday 11th May 10.00 This is a traditional day at the club held early in the season. As well as the opportunity to reflect and remember those members no longer with us, it’s a time for some practise and a social day’s bowling and is open to all members. There is a signup sheet on the noticeboard and the games will be planned dependant on numbers. A shared lunch and a raffle, please donate raffle prizes putting them in the ladies changing room clearly labelled or give to Helen or bring them in on the day.

Club Open Days Sunday 27th April 2.00 – 5.00, Wednesday 30th April 6.00 – 9.00 and Friday 2nd May 6.00 – 9.00 Please come along and support these days and encourage any new bowlers to feel welcome.
