Bilton Bowling Club - Dates from the Diary August
Charity Fun Bowls Day on Sunday 30th July - Arrive 9.30 A day’s bowling with lunch. This day is all fully booked, so thank you everyone for your support. Do join us to watch on the day but remember if you haven’t pre booked lunch you will need to bring your own picnic. Bring a raffle prize in the morning. All proceeds will go to the Our Jay Foundation who provided the club with a defibrillator earlier in the year. Let’s make it a good one.
Men’s 2 Wood club competition - This competition will take place on Sunday 6th August and timings are dependent on the number of entries. The deadline has been extended as we would really like a few more players. If you would like to play, please sign up on the entry form on the main notice board or ring Chris or Sam
News from Bowls England - The National Lawn Bowls Finals is in Victoria Park Leamington Spa 10th – 27th August. Tickets from £4. Plan a day out and watch the best of Bowls https://www.bowlsengland.com/aviva-national-finals/
New members - A shout out to all new members joined this year and to those joined very recently. We hope you’re getting opportunities to play. They say lawn bowls takes moments to learn and a lifetime to master so keep practising and if you haven’t managed to get onto the Green often (the rain hasn’t helped) we would be glad to hear from you and to help arrange something. We have sessions in the week where you can turn up to play with other members and get support. Contact Warren and Sarah
Finals Weekend – 19th & 20th August - The final arrangements will be put in place for the 2-day Club Finals, but please check you have the dates in your diary as you don’t want to miss this occasion. Good luck to all those members who are still playing in the qualifying rounds of club competitions and thank you to those who are supporting, marking etc. As a new member I wondered what finals day would be and so my first was a lovely surprise. The club puts on its best show of Lawn Bowls with everyone supporting each other and dressing for the occasion. Derek and grounds crew will hoist the flag and the grounds are quite a sight. The running order for the day will be developed once the qualifying rounds are completed. Drop in to watch a friend play a specific match or just settle down for a morning, day or weekend of bowls. Trophies will be presented formally to winners later in the year. Results and photographs from last year can be found on this website.
