As part of our policy to assist with local environmental projects, Boroughbridge Lions, led by our environment officer Graeme Jackson, were very pleased to provide funding to the Roecliffe Parish Council to assist them in the renovation and improvement of Roecliffe Common Reserve. The Reserve is part of the Roecliffe Ramble situated on the edge of the village. It is a wildlife haven with a natural pond, dipping platform, bird boxes and benches set in idyllic woodland. The reserve is actively used by villagers, walkers and children from the village school.

The funds provided by the Lions were used for purchasing bark chippings for pathways, bird boxes, wildflower seeds and bluebell bulbs.

Jim Bolland, former Chair of the Parish Council (pictured), expressed his sincere appreciation to the Lions for the funding which has greatly enhanced the area to the benefit of wildlife, the environment and the local community.
