Buckland Dinham (Wikipedia) is a traditional village dating back to the Domesday Book. In 951 King Eadred granted land at Buckland to his relative Ælfhere.
Buckland may refer to a former deer population or may refer to land held by a written charter (book-land) as opposed to land held by custom.
The village used to be known as Buckland Denham. Denham is believed to be a family name.
Although Buckland Dinham itself no longer has a manor house, it is close to Orchardleigh Estate.
