How to join the Society

A message from the Chairman - John Smart

On behalf of the Bucklebury and Marlston Horticultural Society, I should like to invite you to join the society where I can assure you of a warm welcome. The society was established over 100 years ago, has over 300 members and plays a leading role in village life.

During the year we have three shows, a programme of talks on a variety of topics and a couple of outings, including one to the Royal Horticultural Society garden at Wisley, where members are eligible for free admission. In addition, members of the society can obtain discounts on most items at a number of local garden centres.

We are not just a focal point for gardeners specialising in growing flowers, fruit and vegetables. At our Summer and Autumn Shows we encourage the artistic with floral arrangements and the lover of good food with homecraft classes. The photographer, too, is welcome. We also encourage the younger generation to participate and the children’s classes at the shows cater for the under 5s up to 16 year olds.

Any person making the appropriate subscription to the Society by 31st March will be considered a member of the Society. Subscription Rates 2023 are:

  • Family              £8.00
  • Individual         £5.00
  • Senior Citizen  £3.00

Please contact our Membership Secretary (John Wright Tel. 01635 863429) for further details. I look forward to meeting you.
