About the Congregation

Burton Pedwardine Church and Living Stones

A welcoming rural church community serving Burton Pedwardine, Heckington and Helpringham.

Living Stones

Burton Pedwardine Church, together with the churches at Heckington and Helpringham, is part of a joint congregation known as Living Stones. Living Stones brings together the three small congregations of these churches. The group is currently in interregnum.

Regular Services

There is usually a service at Burton Pedwardine on the third Sunday of each month. The service is informal and includes interaction from the congregation, so everyone is welcome to contribute if they wish.

After the service, coffee and cake are served, offering time to get together and chat.

Church Activities

The Living Stones congregation also offers a range of regular activities throughout the month and year.

  • Café Church in Scredington on the fourth Sunday of each month
  • A monthly Men’s Breakfast
  • Homegroups
  • A monthly in-depth Bible study
  • Lent and Advent groups during the year
  • Special services and social events
  • A monthly communion service, rotated around the three churches

A Village Cornerstone

The church has been at the heart of the village for almost a thousand years. Over the centuries, it has witnessed priests coming and going, baptisms, marriages and funerals, as well as village celebrations such as Harvest and Christmas.

Looking to the Future

Today, many small rural churches are in jeopardy, and some are closing. Burton Pedwardine Church is working hard to remain open, active and useful to the community.
