20 is Plenty Campaign

At the meeting of Chalvington with Ripe Parish Council held on 7th November 2022, Members resolved to support the "20 is Plenty campaign" and have written to East Sussex County Council (ESCC) asking them to work with other decision makers to set such a countywide default 20mph limit.

The objectives are to campaign for a speed limit of 20mph to be normal on countryside and residential streets and in town and village centres, unless full consideration of the needs of vulnerable road users allows a higher limit on particular streets.

We believe that communities can decide that "20's Plenty Where People Live".

If residents would like to join the parish council in asking ESCC to implement 20mph speed limits, a template is available in the file below. The template can be sent to your local ESCC councillor Bennett at Cllr.Nick.Bennett@eastsussex.gov.uk.
