Today we had our Captain v President match.

This is normally the last game of the season, but it brought forward to facilitate the early closure of our green this season.

The President’s (Alan Crocket) team wearing red beat the Captain’s (Ben Parks) team wearing blue 97-90.

Well done all!

Writtle Hospital Cup Final

Congratulations to Tillingham BC who beat us in the final of the Writtle Hospital Cup yesterday.

A very deserved win, hopefully we can come back stronger next season.

Also thank you to Writtle BC for your amazing hospitality.

Well done to all our players who have taken part in the competition this year, winning 3 matches on our way to the final.

Ladies v Men Day

31/08/2026

Today we held our first ever Ladies v Men Day.

5 rinks of triples took to the green in the battle of the sexes.

The men came out the winners with 4 rinks to 1!

A very enjoyable afternoon, even though the heavens opened half an hour too soon.

Thanks to Dave for organising & well done to the men!!

C&D & CMBL Leagues

14/08/26

This week saw the completion of the C&D and CMBL league seasons.

Well done to all who took part and represented our great club. Thanks to all our captains for their dedication & hard work.

C&D

Our C&D A Team managed to avoid relegation from Division 1 after a particularly tight season, where focus quickly changed from thinking about winning the league to just trying to avoid relegation.

A much better season was had by our C&D B Team who won their last game to secure promotion to Division 2. Well done to John and the boys.

CMBL

Our CMBL A team faltered towards the end of the season after being in the running to win the league for most of the season, they lost their last 2 games 8-0 to drop to 5th in Division 1.

After winning promotion to Division 1 last season, it was always going to be a difficult season for our CMBL B team and that proved to be the case as they found themselves at the bottom of the table and relegated back to Division 2. That’s 2 promotions and 2 relegations in the last 4 seasons, hopefully that means they’ll have a good season next year.

There were some big changes in personnel to our CMBL C & D teams this season and this proved be costly. Our CMBL C team came last in Division 4 and will now play in Division 5 next season with our D team, who done brilliantly to retain their place in Division 5 after a cracking last wood from Dave Ling to secure the 2 points and survival. Dave described the wood as “Probably the best wood, I’ve ever bowled, a real pearler”.

C&D Finalists

11-08-26

Congratulations to Paul Harrison who has made it through to the C&D 2-wood final after beating Martin Goddard in the semi-final.,

Paul won this competition last year, when he beat Ben Parks in the final after a dramatic comeback.

Paul joins Julie Dudley & Emma Patrick (Ladies Pairs) in the C&D Finals day at Stock on the 13th of September.

Paul makes his Middleton Cup Debut

08-08-26

Paul Harrison became the first Chelmsford BC member to represent Essex in the Middleton Cup for over 20 years.

He played well on his debut, playing lead on Ed Morris’ winning rink on Saturday 8th August 2026.

Unfortunately, Essex lost the quarter final clash to Bucks!

Well done Paul, hopefully you’ll get a few more games next year. 👏👏👏
