Pulverbatch WI is a small, friendly group whose members’ ages range from 92 to 43. It has been an integral part of the village since 1924 and we need new members in order to keep it going. We have an interesting programme of speakers and activities, chosen to suit our current membership but are always ready to adapt to members’ tastes. We have opportunities to join with other local WIs in group meetings with speakers or social evenings as well as events organised by the Shropshire County Federation. There is an excellent WI college in Oxfordshire which runs short courses on a multitude of subjects which several of our members have attended and thoroughly enjoyed. Our meetings are held at 7 30pm on the second Thursday of each month, usually in the Pulverbatch Village Hall and visitors are welcome.
The National Federation of Women's Institutes (NFWI) is the largest organisation for women in the UK with 210,000 members in England, Wales and the Islands.
The ideals of the Women's Institute of truth, justice, tolerance and fellowship are as strong and important now in the 21st century as they were at the birth of the WI in 1915.
The WI exists to educate women to enable them to provide an effective role in the community, to expand their horizons and to develop and pass on important skills.
