Corvedale Garden Group 2022 Programme
After a two-year break Corvedale Garden Group will resume meeting from February to November 2022. We meet at ten a.m. on the third Saturday of each month (except for our first meeting on February 12th and Easter Saturday when we meet a week later *). We have a talk in February and November, at Diddlebury Village Hall. From March to October, we meet at the gardens below to have a talk, explore, drink tea, eat cake and share gardening news. Members attend as they wish and pay on the day. The price includes refreshments. Distances and times are given from the Swan at Aston Munslow. New members always welcome. Gareth Compton and Mathew Bartlett will show us around their 2 acre garden of colour themed, mixed, double herbaceous borders. There are several courtyards, a scented border, stream with bridge to a little island, and a vegetable garden. July 16th. Byecroft. Welshman’s Lane, Bircher, HR60BP £7.50 19 miles 28 minutes
A compact garden full of interesting plants, mostly grown from seed by Sue and Peter Russell. Herbaceous borders with iris and dictamnus, vegetable and soft fruit plot, pond, pots of colour, wild flower area, pergola of old rambling roses and plant stall.
August 20th. Shepherds Barn. Corfton, SY79LD £5 2miles 5 minutes
Kate and Sam Davies are kindly showing us around their 2 acre small holding. Vegetables, orchards, wildlife garden, goats, bees and poultry make them largely self-sufficient. Main garden is wheelchair accessible. Some steps to house.
September 17th. Broadward Hall. Private tour. Clungunford, SY70DA £12.50 19 minutes 12 miles
A rare opportunity to visit a Victorian Gothic remodelling of an 18th century house set on a medieval plot with a visible motte. This SSI holds the National Collection of Hemerocallis in the walled garden, relocated from Waterperry Gardens in Oxfordshire recently. There is a collection of phormium too and an Irish fuchsia @mount Stewart. The early 19th century archery walk is lined with giant sequoia and there is a restored Victorian pump house.
October 15th. The Dell House. 2 Green Lane, Malvern Wells, WR144HU £7.50. 68 minutes 44 miles
This peaceful 2 acre wooded hillside garden surrounds an 1820’s former rectory, home to Kevion and Elizabeth Rolph. The many magnificent specimen trees include a Wellingtonia Redwood and there are also tree carvings by Steve Elsby. Take the meandering bark pathways (sometimes quite steep) to find sculptures by various artists, historic garden buildings, a garden railway and a paved terrace with outstanding views. Follow signs not sat nav. Please car share where possible, as the gravelled parking is limited.

David Morgan, Worcestershire NGS County Organiser will entertain us with a history of the National Garden Scheme. He will cover what the NGS looks for in the gardens they open to the public and how the garden owner finds out about whether their garden would be accepted. The talk will include pictures of and information about NGS gardens open in Worcestershire.
