Cundall with Leckby and Norton le Clay Parish is made up of three villages close to the River Swale four miles from Boroughbridge and six miles from Thirsk. As of January 2026, there were 243 properties in the Parish with 386 electors. The Parish now lies within the Wetherby and Easingwold UK Parliamentary Constituency. From 1974 to 2023 it was part of the Borough of Harrogate, it is now administered by the unitary North Yorkshire Council.
Cundall has a rich history dating back to the Roman times. The village was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and was once home to a castle which was destroyed during the English Civil War. The historic building, St Mary and All Saints Church was built in local sandstone in 1854 and is a Grade 2 listed building. Both Cundall and Norton le Clay are Thankful Villages that suffered no fatalities during the Great War of 1914 to 1918. The Parish also includes some military accommodation attached to the Dishforth Airfield Military Facility. Cundall Manor School, a thriving co-educational independent establishment is situated on a magnificent 28-acre site.
The area offers semi-rural picturesque countryside, with easy access to several North Yorkshire towns and cities.
