Parish Council
What is a Parish Council?
A Parish Council is a tier of local government and is a statutory body serving the local electorate. The Councillors are independently elected, and raise their own funds through the precept (a form of council tax). There are approximately 10,000 local councils in England.
Parish Councils work towards improving community well-being and providing better services. Their activities fall into three main categories: representing the local community, delivering services to meet local needs, and striving to improve the quality of life and community well-being.
The Parish Council meets approximately four times a year when a full agenda of business is considered. Additionally, once a year, there is an Annual Meeting of the Parish Council, usually held in May/June which gives the Council a chance to let residents and local organisations know what they have been doing over the last year and more importantly it is an opportunity for electors to have a say on anything they consider to be valuable about the Parish.
All residents are welcome to attend all meetings.
