Welcome to East Dean Parish Council

We are delighted that you have visited the Website for East Dean Parish Council. East Dean Parish Council is the first tier of local government for the civil parish of East Dean, which is located within the Test Valley Borough of Hampshire, England. The council is responsible for managing local amenities and representing the community's interests to Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.

The East Dean Parish Council in Hampshire (not to be confused with the one in East Sussex) has a range of responsibilities, which include:

  • Managing local facilities.
  • Commenting on planning applications to the Test Valley Borough Council and the South Downs National Park planning authority.
  • Maintaining public spaces, including mowing certain grass areas and rights of way.
  • Liaising with other authorities like Hampshire County Council on issues such as highway maintenance (drains, potholes, speeding), transport, and social care.
  •  Developing a Village Emergency Plan for community self-help during local incidents.
  •  Raising funds through a portion of the local council tax, known as the "precept," to deliver benefits and services to the community.
