The government has announced their preffered route for a new Oxford to Cambridge Expressway. The corridor will be "broadly aligned" with the proposed East-West Rail route from Abingdon to south Milton Keynes via Winslow. It is yet to be decided whether the route will pass west or east of Oxford.
There are plans to build 1 million new houses along the corridor as planners see the road as an opportunity to unlock land for development, with Oxfordshire expected to accomodate between 200,000 and 300,000 of these new houses.
