Re-opening of the greens 2021

                                                                                2021 SEASON AT MILTON PARK

Taking note of the advice and guidance issued by Bowls England and the Government, the greens at Milton Park will open from Monday, 12 April. Under Step 1 and Step 2 of the guidance the following applies at Milton Park, very similar to the end of 2020 season. Step 3 of the guidance comes into effect no earlier thanMonday, 17 May and Step 4 no earlier than Monday, 21 June. Confirmation / guidance is not available until the week before therefore the committee plan to meet on Wednesday 12 May to consider Step 3, which should see an easing of restrictions.

In the first instance greens will be open every morning, including Saturday and Sunday, from 10am – 12.00noon plus Wednesday and Friday evening from 5.30 –7.30 / 8.00pm.  The gate will open at 9.45 am every morning, play will be from 10.00am – 12.00 noon, gate will be closed at 12.15pm: for the evening session gate will open for 5.30pm and close around 7.30 / 8.00pm. 

There will be 4 rinks available on each green. Only singles, pairs and triples arepermitted. In order to play a rink must be booked; to book a rink, please contact: Min Wright – landline: 92693980 mobile: 07850110448 or email: minwright@btinternet.com When booking a rink please give the names of all who will be playing on that rink. Confirmation of rink will be given. Play will be based on a first come first served basis although priority will be given, where possible, to working members in the evenings and at weekends. Rinks can be booked from Wednesday, 6 April. No booking no play!

Only fully paid up club and association members are permitted to play; there will be no ‘pay as you play’. Fees have been reduced this season due to limited access and lack of ‘normal type’ play, particularly at the beginning of the season. The committee has agreed the following:

[ MPBA fee - Full Adult ​£50 - New Members £25 (also includes members joining last year) - Juniors £5

Eastney BC - Full Adult £25 - There will be no facility to pay and play this season

Anyone requiring a locker must pay £2 for it on the day as well

Your club treasurer, Trevor Muston, will collect payment due for both MPBA and Eastney BC. The total membership this year will be £75.00 per member, cash or cheque, made out to Eastney Bowls Club, if you require the locker the payment will be £77.00. The following applies:

• Entry and exit via gate in Priory Crescent only – this gate must be kept closed at all times

• Social distancing rules must be adhered to at all times (2 metres)

• Two mats and a jack only will be available for use and these must be sanitised before and after play

• Mats and jacks will be located outside the green shed, in a trolley, along with the sanitiser spray –only 2 per rink to get equipment

• You are asked to bring your own sanitising hand gel although some will be available at the end of the rinks

• Changing rooms will be closed therefore apart from changing shoes please come to the club dressed to play 

• No booking no play

• Spectators are allowed but they must be a club / association member or family of a member. Spectators and can only meet with no more than five other people from outside their household - social distancing must be observed (ieRule of 6)

• Spectators should sign the ‘Test and Trace Book’ located under the verandah

• Members of the general public are not allowed – should you see such then please ask them to leave

• Refreshment will not be on sale so please feel free to bring your own drinks but all personal rubbish must be taken home

• First Aid equipment and accident book will be found on the counter in the pavilion – should there be any accident / incident then this must be recorded in the accident book  

• Please have some contact details of those whom with you are playing in case of an emergency - to begin with there will not be any contact details kept at the club 

• Remember avoid touching anything that doesn’t belong to you – if you do, use the sanitiser

• There will not be a steward on duty but equipment for use will be available at the beginning of a session and it is your responsibility to return it at the end

• Please do not come to the green if you are feeling unwell

• Parents of Junior members are permitted in order to accompany the Junior member 

• Toilets will be open – access to the gent’s toilet is via the external fire door with access to the ladies and disabled toilets via main pavilion door

• During play the external fire door and pavilion door will be left open with the gent’s changing room door, ladies changing room door and door leading to the corridor being wedged open (these doors must be closed at the end of play)

• Only one person in the toilet area at a time – there will be a red / green card system to show whether the toilet is vacant. Cards will be placed by the external fire door and pavilion door

• On entering please ensure the red card is showing and when leaving flip over to the green card

• Cleaning wipes, sanitiser spray and blue paper rolls will be available inside the toilet cubicles to enable flush buttons, toilet seats and door handles to be wiped after use. Please put, after use, blue paper / wipes in the lidded waste bin and not down the toilet

• As usual there will be hot water and hand soap for washing hands but hand gel will also be available

• Please use paper towels for drying hands

• Please avoid touching surfaces en route to the toilets

• Pavilion is out of use and must only be accessed for use of toilets, first aid equipment and phone

The above is being constantly monitored by the committee. Enjoy your bowls but please may we rely on you to follow these procedures which have been put into place for your safety and to enable safe play. ​​​​​​
